Analyzing the Impact of Islamic Work Ethics in Motivation of Employees in Financial Sector of Pakistan

This study discusses the impact of Islamic work ethics on motivation of employees in the financial sector in Pakistan. Islamic work ethics (IWE), values such as honesty, responsibility, and fairness, have been suggested as an important factor of work behavior and motivation in terms of Islamic cultural context. This research takes a quantitative approach in which employees of different financial institutions of Pakistan are surveyed. The study considers the correlation between key components of IWE such as justice, equality and social responsibility with intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of the employees. The results intend to indicate the importance of Islamic work ethics in determining work attitudes and working attitudes of the financial sector, to provide information about possible approaches to improve employee motivation. The results have some practical implications for HR managers and policy makers who aim to create a more productive and motivated workforce that is congruent with Islamic values.
